The company was founded by Milton S. Hershey in 1894. The main business office of the company is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States of America.The company's principal product groups include: confectionery products sold in the form of bar goods, bagged items and boxed items; grocery products in the form of baking ingredients, chocolate drink mixes, peanut butter, dessert toppings and beverages. In addition to serving consumers, the company also provides a number of specialized products and services for business customers. It markets its products under Hershey's, Reese, Kit Kat, Kisses, Jolly Rancher, Ice Breakers, and Snacks.The company is considered as the largest North American manufacturer of quality chocolate and sugar confectionery products. It strives to enhance its number one position in the North American confectionery market, be the leader in U.S. chocolate-related grocery products, and to build leadership positions in selected international markets.The company has manufacturing plants in Hershey, Pennsylvania; Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada; Mexico; and Oakdale, California. Its products are sold throughout North America and exported overseas.Artisan Confections Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Hershey Company, markets such premium chocolate offerings as Scharffen Berger, known for its high-cacao dark chocolate products, Joseph Schmidt, recognized for its fine, handcrafted chocolate gifts, and Dagoba, known for its high-quality natural and organic chocolate bars.
