The company, founded as The Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada, is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TCK and on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol TCK.A. The company was incorporated in 1951.The company owns interests in 13 mines in Canada, United States, Chile and Peru, as well as one metallurgical complex in British Columbia. It has expertise throughout the full range of activities related to mining, including exploration, development, smelting, refining, safety, environmental protection, product stewardship, recycling and research.The company is a world leader in the production of zinc and metallurgical coal and a significant producer of copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, niobium, silver and specialty metals. The majority of its coal is exported for steel production, with approximately 90 percent transported west by rail to the coast of British Columbia and shipped from there to Asia, Europe and South America.
