It is an integrated energy company primarily engaged in the supply of natural gas, crude oil, and gas-related services to wholesale and retail customers. As the largest natural gas supplier in the Appalachian Basin, the company operates more than 1,400 miles (2,250 kilometers) of pipeline and serves more than 270,000 customers in southwestern Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky, USA. Founded in 1888, it was formerly known as Equitable Resources Inc. The US-based company has a registered office located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.The company operates two business units: EQT Production and EQT Midstream.EQT Production is the fastest growing business within the company. In an effort to meet the country's growing demand for energy, the Appalachian Basin is bursting with new drilling and production activity, and it is at the center of it all, with nearly 3.4 million in acreage across the basin and more than 28 Tcfe of natural gas reserves potential, 9.5 Tcfe from 3P reserves. It is one of Appalachia's largest exploration and production companies, developing and implementing innovative drilling technology to effectively and efficiently tap into unconventional reservoirs, such as shale, tight sands, and coalbed methane.The company is seizing opportunities created by the Appalachian Basin's burgeoning production of natural gas and other energy products. Through its midstream activities, it is developing and operating the assets and infrastructure required to process and transport energy resources from the drill site to the city gate. EQT Midstream provides gathering, processing, transmission and storage services both to EQT Production and to independent third parties. Over the last two years Midstream constructed more than 1,000 miles of pipeline and installed 87,000 horsepower, including the Big Sandy pipeline. These projects provide the platform for significant natural gas sales volume growth.
