The Canadian-based company, with headquarters located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is engaged in the development, mining, refining and conversion of uranium for sale as fuel for generating electricity in nuclear power reactors in Canada and in other countries. The company is the world's largest uranium producer accounting for 20 percent of world production from its mines in Canada and the United States. It holds premier land positions in the world's most promising areas for new uranium discoveries in Canada and Australia as part of an intensive global exploration program. It was established through the merger of Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation and Eldorado Nuclear Limited in 1988.The company is also a leading provider of processing services required to produce fuel for nuclear power plants. It aims to be a dominant nuclear energy company producing uranium fuel and generating clean electricity by building on its solid asset base in uranium and uranium conversion, and expertise in the global nuclear industry with sustainable investments to provide clean-energy solutions for growing world markets. Existing uranium supply is expected to fall short of demand over the next decade. However, the company is positioned to benefit from this shortfall through its low-cost operations, extensive reserves, and control of more than 45 percent of identified new uranium production that may come to the market over the next ten years.
