Northeast Utilities (NU), its parent company, is one of the Fortune 500 energy firms that operate New England's largest energy delivery system. One of NU's subsidiaries is Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P). Another affiliate company is Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH), the Granite State's largest electric utility and comprises three fossil fuel-fired generating plants and nine hydroelectric facilities. The Yankee Gas Services Company distributes natural gas in the state of Connecticut. The fourth subsidiary is Western Massachusetts Electric Company or WMECO. It is the main distributor of electricity in western Massachusetts for more than 200,000 customers.
