It is active in all types of retail distribution, primarily food retailing: The hypermarkets, which offer a wide range of food and non-food products; The supermarkets, which offer a wide selection of mostly food products; Hard discounters, which stock around 800 food products in small stores, half of the products are sold under the Dia brand name; Convenience stores, which offer a range of products covering all food requirements, also offers a range of services; Cash-and-carry, which wholesales and retails self-service, mainly of food products and intended for businesses; and Electronic commerce, a cyber-market where shopping can be ordered on the Internet and delivered to the door.The world's second-largest retailer, the company operates more than 12,000 stores under some two dozen names, including hypermarkets (Carrefour), supermarkets (Champion), convenience stores (Shopi, MarchéPlus), discount stores (Dia, Ed), and cash-and-carry stores (Promocash) in about 30 countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
