(Bill) Grainger in March of 1927 and was incorporated in 1928. Its registered head office is located in Lake Forest, United States.The company is the leading broad-line supplier of facilities maintenance and related products in the United States. It works with more than 1,300 suppliers to provide customers with access to more than 800,000 products from categories including adhesives, electrical, fasteners, hardware, filters, janitorial and painting, HVACR (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, material handling, metalworking, motors and power transmission, pneumatics and hydraulics, pumps and plumbing, safety, security, test instruments, and tools.Its customers are 1.8 million businesses and institutions across North America and China. These customers are facilities maintenance professionals from businesses and institutions of all sizes including government customers (e.g. government offices, schools and correctional institutions on the state and local levels as well as office buildings, military installations and the U.S. Postal Service); heavy manufacturing customers that are usually involved in textile, lumber, metals and rubber industries; light manufacturing such as food, pharmaceutical and electronic customers; retail customers including grocery stores, restaurants and local gas stations; contractor customers that include contracting firms involved in maintaining and repairing existing facilities; reseller customers that offer Grainger products to customers in different markets; and commercial customers including hospitals, hotels and theaters.The company has more than 425 branches in the United States. It also owns The Grainger Catalog that offers customers a resource for more than 138,000 facilities maintenance products; and the Grainger.com - the company's e-commerce solution that offers customers the ability to order more than 300,000 products online.The company is the leading distributor of facilities maintenance products in Mexico. Grainger, S.A de C.V. offers customers with more than 40,000 products. Further, in September 2006, Grainger opened its first location in China in the Shanghai suburb of Minhang. The branch initially stocks approximately 20,000 products to serve the Chinese businesses and institutions. Grainger also markets products in Latin America, Caribbean and Yucatan Peninsula, Asia-Pacific, East Russia, Far East, India and Oceania, Europe, Middle East, Africa, West Russia and Southwest Asia.
