The company has its registered head office located in Hamburg. The company is Europe's largest magazine publisher, with approximately 285 magazines and newspapers in 21 countries. It offers a broad spectrum of magazines, advertising concepts and detailed media data. The company's business activities are structured in five divisions: Magazines, Germany; Magazines, International; Magazines, France; Print; and Corporate and Publishing Services. The Newspapers unit is part of the Corporate and Publishing Services division. The company's international subsidiary in Paris, France is Prisma Presse S.N.C., the second-largest and most profitable magazine publisher in France. The company also publishes magazines in China, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Russia and Spain.The company, aside from its international activities, also owns a stake in Germany's Dresdner Druck- und Verlagshaus (60 percent), the Financila Times Deutschland (50 percent), Motor-Presse Stuttgart (54.9 percent), Am Spiegel Verlag (24.75 percent) and the Hamburg School of Journalism (95 percent). The company has several sales offices in Germany (Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munchen, and Dusseldorf); Switzerland (Zurich); and Austria (Vienna).
