The company is publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the stock code 4568 and headquartered in Chuo-ku, Japan. It was established in September 2005 as the joint holding company of two major Japanese pharmaceutical companies, Sankyo Company Limited and Daiichi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.Through its subsidiaries, the company is also involved in the manufacture and marketing of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and fine chemicals; real estate leasing; and insurance agency business. It has approximately 2,300 overseas medical representatives in 33 locations, mainly in Europe (Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy) and the United States. It dissolved the operations of its Sankyo Lifetech subsidiary in Tokyo, Japan in December of 2007.The company is also active in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Brazil and Venezuela. It continually generates innovative drugs and services and maximizes its corporate value. It aims to be a global pharma innovator by improving social, economic and humanistic values. As well, it strives to contribute to the enrichment of quality of life around the world through the creation and provision of innovative pharmaceuticals.
